Our Philosophy: We save you
time, money, and hassle

A word from our CEO

At JonnyDo, our philosophy, our reason for being, and our greatest promise is simple: we can save you time, money, and hassle while elevating your home maintenance and ownership experience. In this letter, I’d like to explain how we back up that promise by going a bit deeper into our approach.

Over the last 20 years, as John and I have worked in people’s homes, one challenge has come up time and time again: finding a reliable, licensed, and professional handyman to handle the finishing touches and essential maintenance tasks.  From tackling to-do lists to addressing yearly upkeep, homeowners often struggle to find someone who does the job right the first time, or worse yet, someone who shows up at all.

Whether it’s fixing small issues, completing minor tasks, or handling projects that are too small for contractors and too broad for specialists, these lingering problems can turn homeownership into a headache. Our mission is to fill that gap and make your homeownership experience seamless and stress-free.

Another common situation we see, is after construction wraps up, a trade specialist finishes their work, or a homeowner settles in, technicians often will not follow through to button up the details of a job properly. Personally, I’ve had tradespeople completely disappear in the middle of a job, never to be heard from again. I’ve had contractors vanish once 90% of the work was done, often because they weren’t incentivized to return—they were driven to chase bigger, newer jobs to make sure they didn’t lose out on future work. It’s not that these people were bad or unqualified; it’s a systemic issue in the home maintenance and construction world. That’s where John and I began to rethink the handyman and home maintenance industry.

Our solution is three-fold:

  1. Formalizing handyman services
Friendly service, accountability, and expert technicians doing licensed work.

  2. A membership service
This ensures homeowners have a reliable connection with their handyman three times a year, along with automatic handling of essential home maintenance and inspections. It also shifts the incentive structure—we understand that to keep our members, we must consistently deliver on our promises and see every job through from start to finish.
  3. Doing things right, the first time and every time
Our work will always be done correctly and licensed, no corners will be cut. You will have peace of mind that of our work is guaranteed.

How this benefits you:

  1. Prioritizing Safety
Safety is a huge focus for us, especially as John and I both have three kids. We know that homeowners often neglect basic safety checks—things like testing carbon monoxide alarms annually, replacing frayed wires, or fixing faulty outlets. These are small fixes that can prevent fires, electrocution, and other hazards. By keeping these in check, we protect your home and family from avoidable risks.
  2. Catching Small Issues Before They Become Big Problems
Often, homeowners don’t realize something is wrong until it’s turned into a costly issue that requires multiple trades. For instance, a small leak under the sink—if not caught in time—could grow into a problem requiring a plumber, a carpenter or cabinet maker, and potentially mold remediation. With our service, these types of issues are identified during routine inspections and addressed on the spot, saving you from expensive and avoidable repairs.
  3. Routine Maintenance to Avoid Major Expenses
A typical example we see often: many homeowners don’t know they should change their HVAC filters 3 to 4 times a year. Most change it once, if they’re lucky. This leads to reduced airflow, higher energy consumption, increased utility bills, and often the need for premature replacement of an entire HVAC system. You’re also living with poor air quality and running the risk of mold growth. By regularly changing filters and doing simple things like adding weather stripping to your doors and windows, you could save thousands over the lifetime of your home.
  4. Preventing Structural Damage Before It Escalates
Another common issue is letting dry rot or termite damage go unchecked. What could be a simple $500 carpentry job can easily turn into a $10,000 structural repair if caught too late. With our regular inspections, we catch these things early, saving you a fortune in repairs and giving you peace of mind.

Our goal is simple:

To eradicate common home maintenance problems before they become big issues. Construction companies don’t have the incentive to handle these smaller tasks, but they do have an incentive to replace large beams or overhaul an HVAC system when things have gone too far. That’s why we’ve built a service that keeps your home in top shape year-round, saves you money, and reduces waste. We believe in earning your trust as a client by addressing issues before they become costly—and by doing that, we know you’ll value the relationship enough to continue your membership.

We’re excited about the opportunity to work with you and appreciate your trust in us.

  • Sincerely,

  • Daniel Wright

Our Values

We grew up building, hiking, fishing, surfing and spending a lot
of time in nature.

Building this business is an opportunity for us to do our part to protect our planet and spread a culture of consciousness around senseless waste and spending.

We embrace a culture of sustainability and protecting the environment by building things right the first time and favoring high-quality materials that are designed to be maintained for years to come—keeping waste out of landfills and rejecting the trend of disposable building.  By maintaining many aspects of your home properly, we avoid larger issues, and cut down significantly on waste.

We are also passionate about elevating the craft itself, honoring the skill and pride that true craftsmanship brings to every project. This philosophy isn’t just what we do—it’s who we are, and it drives us to build a better future for our communities.  We believe in bringing pride to all of the trades, which can so often go unseen.  Part of our effort is through building a team that is dedicated to honing its various crafts.  Another part of this effort is through education and teaching woodworking and trade skills through high school programs.

Our Story

JonnyDo Co-founders John Sankey and Daniel Wright have
been best friends since they were 12 years old.

Through all the twists and turns of life, they’ve remained close—now for the first time they are embarking on a business partnership with the vision of sharing their unique home maintenance practices and philosophies to a wider audience.

Their shared love for building was sparked early by John’s dad, Warren, a skilled boat builder and finish carpenter. Starting at age 13, John and Daniel spent countless hours in their Junior high and high school wood shop. For Daniel, it became an obsession—he’d arrive at school two hours early just to get extra time in the shop. John, meanwhile, would meet his dad after school, working alongside him on grueling boat-building tasks. Their passion for craftsmanship continued into adulthood. After college, Daniel started a handyman company in the Bay Area, which John later took over, eventually earning his contractor’s license and transitioning into a full-service general contracting business.

Later, when Daniel relocated to Southern California, building homes and becoming a wood shop teacher, they never stopped sharing ideas. They collaborated on projects, swapping notes and discussing the challenges they saw in their industry.  One common problem stood out: there wasn’t an easy, effective way for homeowners to manage ongoing maintenance and keep track of their home’s needs.  Over the years, they brainstormed solutions—ways to save clients money, time, and headaches by helping them stay on top of home upkeep.

Now, with the right timing and vision, they’ve come together to launch JonnyDo. This new venture offers scheduled home maintenance and handyman services, all with the goal of protecting and enhancing one of your largest assets—your home.
